1. Barney Frank to Announce He Won't Seek Re-Election
Barney Frank served for 16 terms. His name is emblazoned on the banking reform law that passed Congress last year. He was also chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. Frank is now the 18th House Democrat to flat-out retire.
2. Suicide Car Bomber Kills 19 in Baghdad
 A suicide bomber slammed a car packed with explosives into the gate of a prison north of Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 19 people, Iraqi officials said.Violence has ebbed across Iraq since the height of the fighting, but deadly bombings and shootings still occur almost daily as U.S. troops prepare to leave. Iraqi security officials maintain that they are fully prepared for the American withdrawal, which is required under a 2008 security pact between the U.S. and Iraq, but many Iraqis are concerned that insurgents may use the transition period to launch more attacks in a bid to regain their former prominence and destabilize the country.
3. Countdown Begins for Congress on 'Doc Fix'
 Unless Congress acts before Jan. 1, doctors will again face steep medicare cuts that threaten to undermine health care for millions of seniors and disabled people.The problem is the cost. Congress used to add it to the federal deficit, but lawmakers can't get away with it anymore.
